Using the Open Connection window To reconnect to a database already shown in the history, just click that item to load its saved data, then click the [Connect] button.
To connect to a new database select either the "TNS Names" or "Simple Connect" tab, then select a database name (TNS) or complete the Server/Port/SID fields (Simple Connect).
Once a connection method is selected, enter a Username and Password, then click the [Connect] button.
Even though saved passwords are strongly encrypted, you can opt to not save your password by unchecking the "Save PW" checkbox.
TIP: Either the [F5] key or the Connect>New Connection menu will open a connection window.

The SQL Editor is a full-featured Oracle interface Everything from SQL queries to PL/SQL can be run/created through the editor - basically what you would expect from SQL*Plus.
Complete support for Bind Variables.
Each of the editor commands - Execute, Describe, and Explain - can be triggered through the application menu, the editor toolbar buttons, and keyboard shortcuts.
Features many smart editor features like:
The SQL Editor text area is selection-sensitive, meaning the Execute, Describe, and Explain commands work on either the selected text, or the entire SQL Editor text area if nothing is selected. This enables you to execute sub-select SQL or describe objects quickly with minimal effort.
Any DML statements (Insert, Update, Delete, etc.) are done in Auto-Commit mode so you do not have to worry about forgetting to commit your work or blocking other users.
Substitution (&var and :var) variables in SQL statements automatically prompt for bind variable values, otherwise, they are ignored (for PL/SQL code, etc.)
Any DBMS_OUTPUT is automatically detected and shown on the DBMS Output tab with no configuration necessary. The largest possible buffer is used depending upon the Oracle RDBMS version.
TIP: Don't flip to the Browser to view column names/types when writing a query: View a table description for an object in-line by selecting a table/view name and using the Describe command.
The "Stored SQL" half of the editor tab contains your Favorite SQL and your SQL History.
Favorite SQL is where you can add/edit the SQL you use the most (like Bookmarks).
SQL History is where every successful statement executed in the Editor is automatically logged.
The SQL in either area can be loaded into the Editor through the right-click menu.
TIP: SQL History columns are movable and resizable.
TIP: The dividing area between every area is adjustable.
